valentine's day etc
02-15-12 05:30 PM

nothing too exciting to report... i work long hours tuesday leaving the house at 6am, arriving home at 7:30pm.

my coworker left without me in the morning although we carpool every week... her husband called her to say 'alex pulled in the driveway 3 mins after you left!'  she really could've stood to wait an extra few minutes for me on the account of traffic etc.... i had been showing up to her place 5-10 mins early almost every week prior, so she probably thought i wasn't going to work or something.  oh well.  no biggie.  we'll resume next week.

i ordered flowers for kim last week.... it said they would arrive between feb 14th and the 16th!  ughhh... so i assumed with my luck they'd arrive on the 17th.  well apparently fed-ex tried to deliver them yesterday (the 14th), buttttt since there's no one in the office of the apartment building anymore to accept packages, the guy left.  weak.  kim picked them up today and apparently they're great!

dinner last night was pretty delicious... kim ordered some food from one of our favorite places... well worth it... yum... a nice surprise too considering i thought she was going to be whipping something up herself (which would've been fine as well).

just enjoyed kim's company (with the dog) for the rest of the evening... we watched a great episode of anthony bourdain's 'no reservations' entitled 'food porn.'  ahhh i love that show.

hmmm.....

yeah i was pretty grouchy yesterday at work the whole day.... jaded about the loan repayment crap (although that's not necessarily out the window... yet).... dr. bob's kind of sucked on monday.... i was there until 5:30pm when work is supposed to end at 4:30pm (see, i don't mind that.... but the fact the rest of the staff has to stay while i'm there... THAT i mind... don't be scheduling people so late in the day for complex procedures!  dumb!).  dr. bob's office that i work at on mondays is plagued with scheduling issues.  if/when these are straightened out, it may be a decent office.

visited nonny on sunday in canada with kim.... nice to see her feeling a bit better... doing pretty well... she made kim and i some pasta with meat-balls (all homemade of course)... it was bitter-sweet though (she didn't eat any as she has very little appetite, and food does not taste appealing right now).... just makes me sad you know?  but she was in good spirits overall (especially since everyone's been in touch with her on the phone etc over the past few months.... really keeping her spirits up).

yesterday i scored a free sub from subway.... that was pretty sweet... i found a 'charley's subs' coupon online today for a free sub through the 18th, so if anyone has a charley's near them... print it out and enjoy!

that's it for me... heading home in 25 mins or so... satisfying day filled with lots of tooth extractions.... win.

i call everyone on the food channel "food porn" - it makes me so damn hungry!!
glad you got up to canada to visit with you grandma, i'm sure she appreciated the company and you got some yummy homemade food out of the visit :)

thanks for the kind thoughts kara... :-D

if you have time... i would reallllllly appreciate YOUR thoughts/comments regarding my most recent entry where i need to draft a convincing letter. i'm good at pullin' teeth, but my way with words is not all that convincing.

Haha I watched that episode of No Reservations too. I love Anthony Bourdain, I wish I could be his assistant or something so I can get in on all of the traveling and food action. Sigh.

i love anthony bourdains show! i also like watching bizzare foods with andrew zimmern.

i agree, EXCEPT.... one thing i don't care for with zimmern, is he tries to be adam richmond from 'man vs. food': he hugs the cooks when they say something eloquently about the food, and EVERY bite of food he takes, he gives that annoying 'O'-face to the camera like 'this nibble of plain oatmeal is LITERALLY THE MOST AMAZING THING I HAVE EVER EATEN!' annoying.
