Two months ago, around my birthday, I fell at practice. I fell, and pretty violently at that, right on my ass. I went to the hospital a week later because the pain was unbearable. There, they told me that I had fractured my coccyx, and to stay off of it as much as possible in order to let it heal. When it stopped hurting enough to wear I could walk/stretch with no problem, I started skating again. One month ago - exactly a month from the date that the hospital confirmed the fracture, I fell during an inter-team scrimmage at practice. As soon as I fell, I knew I had re-injured it. Crying and writhing in pain, I had Skeeter drive me to the hospital only for them to confirm that I had again fractured the first fracture, and it would take longer to heal this time. They ordered me to stay off skates. Since joining derby, I have found everything that my life was lacking, activity, sisterhood, and all-around badassery. Therefore, when I was ordered to stay off my skates, I was not too happy about it. I stayed off skates during the first couple of weeks, just working on exercises and stretching out muscles, trying not to put any pressure on my injury. Last Sunday I dreaded not being on skates. So I laced up, and skating just a little to warm up, laced down, and exercised. No big. Wednesday, I exercised. Today, I laced up again and skated for longer, before lacing down because of back pain. then I did off-skate training. Not to mention the fact that I have the sinus infection from HELL, or that my fractured tailbone probably didn't appreciate my figure on 8 wheels, and then working out hard, carrying laundry up and down 2 flights of stairs... Needless to say, I'm in a helluva lot of pain, and I just want it to GO AWAY. I just drank a mug of hot tea (roobius superfruit?) that's supposed to have "restorative qualities"), am drinking a fuckton of water, and just ate what was essentially glorified chicken noodle soup. Also, I've been taking nasal spray and antibiotics on a schedule. So if I wake up tomorrow morning and am still feeling this bad, I will know for sure that I am dying. ♥ [
